An introduction post via a snapshot of my life. Titled because I found my passion, and I hope that hearing some of my story can help you find yours! Feel free to comment with any questions - a Q & A with specific topics you're interested in would be a great future blog post!

Hi there! I'm Taylor - the face behind taylor meeks (tm) design co. I was raised in Alpharetta, GA, went to Valdosta State University, and got married May 2016 to my best friend, Jordan. I am a homebody, cat mom, lover of reading, beach trips, and beautiful spaces. Since moving to the mountains, I've enjoyed hiking, scouring local rock stores for local rocks/crystals, and trying new wineries! Although, I'm more of a coffee drinker than a wine drinker. But the experience is where it's at!
I officially began this journey in October 2019 after spending ~3 years in healthcare administration. I enjoyed some aspects of the positions I held, but something wasn't right and I learned that pretty quickly. My husband and I moved in September 2019. Luckily, he was (and still is) supportive enough to allow me to take my time figuring out how I’d like to redirect my trajectory. I explored a few options at first, but they didn't quite pan out.
But I must side note and say: I believe that everything I have done has been used to get me where I am today. Even jobs where I felt like, "what is the point?" If I hadn't started questioning and learning what I don't like, I wouldn't have felt propelled to make my own way. I don't believe there is a correct series of steps you must take in order to get where you're meant to be. I completely agree with those who encourage taking your best next step. For me, that time spent wandering has been crucial. And so hard. But seeing a path start to unfold, all I can think about is wow, my God sure likes to show off. It's a renewed strength and faith that He's allowed to develop in me. Through much consternation on my part. After feeling directionless for some time, I realized that there IS a career path in Interior Design. I enjoy the creativity involved, and while I’m not yet educated in this particular field, I believe that I am capable of learning as I go. And that’s what I'm doing! I am a freelance interior decorating and social media marketing consultant. I am LOVING it!

There are so many aspects that I enjoy about the design field. Bringing life and perspective to each unique space, experimenting with new styles and products, and meeting new people are some of my favorite. I love using Interior Design accounts on Instagram for inspiration and am having a lot of fun learning as I go. Today, some of my favorite accounts to follow are: Justina Blakeney, Emily Henderson, Linen & Flax, Eye For Pretty, Rebecca Atwood Designs, Wit and Delight, The Lifestyled Co, All Sorts of, and Kelly Wearstler.
As far as my aesthetic goes, I value many different styles. As a general theme in my repertoire, though: if it's unexpected, I tend to gravitate towards it. Bohemian, eclectic, midcentury modern, coastal, & lux are all drawing my eye right now! And my version of classic is, and always will be, black and white. 🖤🤍
Create. Inspire. Play.
I'm a seeker, creative, avid imitator, and ambitious. I am very loyal and can be too honest with my opinions if I consider you my people. I love different viewpoints, seeing the world from other perspectives, and challenging myself. I truly value and admire the connections I have made and continue to make. Thank you for following along with me as I navigate this journey.
